Honing his winemaking skills and knowledge of winery operations at Kenwood, Taft Street and Dry Creek Vineyards, Clay was ready in 1998 to release the inaugural Mauritson Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel. Clay’s wife Carrie soon joined him, leading our marketing and operations support. Our 2019 Dry Creek Zinfandel opens to an engaging bouquet of fresh blackberry, lilac blossom, powdered sugar and a pulse of dried herb. Black cherry, shavings of vanilla pod with ground coffee marry perfectly with the refined tannins and beautiful staying power of this wine! Enjoy for the next 7-10 years.

Moving to the reds, the 2018 Zinfandel Mauritson is 94% Zinfandel and 6% Petite Sirah, all from the Dry Creek Valley. Aged 14 months in French oak, its ruby/plum color is followed by a spicy, complex Zinfandel that has lots of red and black fruits, sandalwood, and incense aromas and flavors.

It arrived in the Americas from Europe in the early years of the 19th Century, and was an immediate success in both Napa and Sonoma counties, which re The Mauritson 2017 Dry Creek Zin is a little bit riper than previous vintages, but it carries its concentration and dried-fruit elements with incredible poise. Of 95% Zinfandel and 5% Petite Sirah, Mauritson Wines Jack’s Cabin Vineyard, Rockpile ($49) offered intense aromas of ripe fruit compote, blackberries, dark cherries, earth and herbs. The palate burst with rich and pure flavors of strawberries and raspberries framed with lush acidity and soft tannins.

The nose is a wonderful marriage of elegant perfumed yellow fruits and crushed river rock, with Zinfandel, Rockpile Ridge Vineyard.
